Hey USY!
For this edition I want to explain where the idea for the second half of Sa/To, Tikkun Olam comes from. Tikkun Olam translates to “repairing the world”. While this might seem simple enough, it is actually a Kabbalistic (mystical) idea about the reason God created humans. The idea is that when God created the world, he put his goodness in a light and tried to put it in the physical world. However, when he did, the light shattered, sending shards across the world. This idea then states that God then created humans in order to gather those shards of light, by the way of chesed, kindness. This idea that we are created in order to be kind to others is something that really resonated with me, and so I wanted to share it with you all.
