USY was a sort of continuation of summer camp, enabling me to socialize and grow with other Jewish teens all year around, while embracing our shared Jewish heritage. My USY friends, from both NERUSY and international programs, are still some of my nearest and dearest friends. My participation in USY enforced my proud Jewish identity which was one of the foundations for my Cinnamon Shtick blog where I share many Jewish inspired recipes such as kichel, mandel bread, challah, bagels and babka.
