USY Poland Seminar for Adults

Overview

In response to overwhelming demand from parents of USYers, in 2013 USY launched this week-long trip to Poland for adults, with an itinerary and programming similar to the trips run for our high school students.

Now you have the opportunity to spend a week walking among the rich, varied history and culture of Polish Jewry in Warsaw, Krakow, and Lublin, and engage in moving visits to the concentration camps of Majdanek, Auschwitz, Birkenau, and Treblinka.

About Your Tour Guide

The trip is led by Jules Gutin, past International Director of USY. Jules was instrumental in creating the USY Israel Pilgrimage/Poland Seminar in 1986. He has guided many USY , Nativ, and adult groups in Poland over the past thirty years.

What is USY Poland Seminar for Adults?

For over 60 years USY has taken hundreds of teens to Israel and Europe, connecting them to the Jewish homeland. When USY launched its Israel Pilgrimage/Poland Seminar trip for teens, several parents expressed interest in participating on a similarly structured trip.

In response to these requests, in 2013 USY created a Poland Seminar for Adults, a week-long trip that has an itinerary and programming which closely resembles our teen experience. The primary emphasis of USY Poland Seminar for Adults is sites of Jewish interest, with a specific focus on the rich and varied history of Polish Jewry and a special focus on the Holocaust.

What is the typical group size?

The minimum group size is 20 adults, but USY reserves the right to limit the number of participants on the trip if needed and will accept those who submit a completed reservation form and deposit on a first-come first-serve basis.

How do I book flights for this trip?

The cost of USY Poland Seminar for Adults does not include airfare. Participants will need to arrange their own flights, planning to arrive in Warsaw on Tuesday, July 4, 2018 no later than 11AM. If you need guidance regarding the booking of flights please contact Jules Gutin.

Please note that if you a planning on arriving in and/or departing on other dates and times than those listed in the itinerary, you will be responsible for arranging your own ground transportation to/from the airport. USY is not responsible for programming or sites missed due to individual flight schedules.

Please do not reserve any flights until you have been notified that that trip has reached its minimum number of participants.

Where do I stay while traveling?

The cost of the trip includes 7 nights of accommodations in comfortable, three to four star hotels.

What is the food like?

All meals severed are kosher. Additionally, mineral water is provided on the tour bus at all times.

What does the cost of this program include?

The cost of USY Poland Seminar for Adults includes 7 nights of accommodations, kosher meals, sightseeing tours with professional guides, gratuities and admission fees, and a deluxe tour bus.

Personal expenses, flights, ground transportation in North America, and medical and travel insurance are additional.

What are the eligibility requirements for this program?

USY Poland Seminar for Adults is open to person age 24 or older. Participants must declare that they are in good medical and physical health and able to walk unassisted for considerable distances in varying outdoor conditions.

How do I secure a reservation and submit payment?

To secure your reservation please submit the registration form (accessible by clicking the Register Now button above) and a check deposit of $400 per person payable to USY by March 1.

A bill for the reminder of the fees will be sent to you by mail. The balance is due by April 20.

What is your cancellation policy?

All fees, including the deposit, are fully refundable until March 1.

After March 1 the cancellation/refund policy is as follows:

March 2- April 3: Full refund available minus an $100 administrative fee

April 4- April 20: 75% refund available

April 21- May 15: 50% refund available

May 16 – July 4: No refund available

We encourage participants to purchase insurance to cover cancellation penalties through insuremytrip.com.

What is your liability policy?

The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism ,their agents and/or representatives in the USA or abroad (hereinafter, collectively, “Tour Providers”) act only as agents for those passengers travelling on the tour herein (hereinafter, collectively, “Tour Members”) in making arrangements for hotels, transportation, touring, restaurants, and/or any other services in connection with the itinerary stated herein. Tour Providers will exercise reasonable care in making such arrangements. However, Tour Providers do not assume any liability whatsoever for any injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, or irregularity to any person (including but not limited to Tour Members or property because of any act of failure to act or default of any hotel, carrier, restaurant company, entity, or any person rendering any services. Tour Providers do not assume any liability whatsoever for any injury, damage, loss accident, delay or irregularity sustained by a Tour Member due to the actions or inaction of any person or entity who is not the Tour Provider whether during tour activities or not. Tour Providers reserve the right to reasonably vary itineraries and substitute components of tour programs at any time between the Tour Member’s signing of the contract for tour services and the actual operation of the tour program without any liability of Tour Providers for any such variations and/or substitutions. Tour Providers reserve the right to accept or deny acceptance of any person as a member of any tour.
